Social Listening - Tanologist
I have been an avid self tanner for a few years now. I had a favorite tanning mousse that I used for about 2 years and then it got discontinued. Sad. I recently (last week) purchased a new mousse to try. The brand of mousse it Tanologists and the product is an Express Tan self tan mousse.
I bought this product after watching a YouTube video reviewing this product. On Ulta's website only 54 people have left a review. However, 33 out of 54 people rated this as a 5 star product. On Target's website 63% of people gave this product a 5 star review. As well, Tanologist's Instagram has a following of 137K followers.
As a customer I am happy about the product, I feel like many people enjoy this product as it seems to be constantly sold out in my area as well as on their website.
Tanologists value proposition is that they want everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin. They want you to feel beautiful without makeup on or right out of bed.
Here are some reviews I found on Ulta and Target's website. After reading these reviews I would be willing to purchase the tanning mousse. Many of the comments are "Awesome" or "Best Stuff Ever."
Tanologists has many products for tanning. Including face drops, lotions, and mousses. Tanologist is promoting a natural glow from the outside in. From personal experience I feel better and more "glowy" when I am tan.
Tanologist posts photos of beautiful people glowing from their tan produced by their product. People who self tan know what they are looking for in a good mousse tan. By having reviews and images available I believe that this is the smartest thing a tanning company can offer. Customers want to hear from other customers on how the tan looked, how it faded off of their skin, the undertones of the tan, and the smell. If customers can know this information before buying the tan they are probably more likely to buy it.
The company did not respond to any of the reviews. I think that a thank you or a reply would be nice. It's always nice to be thanked by a company you support. If I were the brand manager I would reach out and say, "thank you ......, we really appreciate your support and your time for leaving a comment. I am so glad you enjoy our product.
I learned from this assignment that reviews matter to other customers that are interested in buying the same products. A review can really affect someone's decision.
