Social Listening - Tanologist

Image
I have been an avid self tanner for a few years now. I had a favorite tanning mousse that I used for about 2 years and then it got discontinued. Sad. I recently (last week) purchased a new mousse to try. The brand of mousse it Tanologists and the product is an Express Tan self tan mousse.  I bought this product after watching a YouTube video reviewing this product. On Ulta's website only 54 people have left a review. However, 33 out of 54 people rated this as a 5 star product. On Target's website 63% of people gave this product a 5 star review. As well, Tanologist's Instagram has a following of 137K followers.  As a customer I am happy about the product, I feel like many people enjoy this product as it seems to be constantly sold out in my area as well as on their website.  Tanologists value proposition is that they want everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin. They want you to feel beautiful without makeup on or right out of bed.  Here are some reviews I foun...

Marketing in the News - Cadillac LYRIQ

Image
Ad link I was interested in this ad because I thought it was an odd way to show a car offers driving assistance.   The ad I chose to take a look at in an ad for Cadillacs new all-electric LYRIQ that allows for the car to assist you while driving. The teen in the ad is Edward "scissorhands," he cannot participated well in many activities due to having scissors for hands.  His mom is telling his life story about his scissorhands. He cuts things, breaks things, and also attracts magnets. Edward has to take the bus because he can't drive, however, the bus driver does not like it when he rides the bus because he breaks things. His mom sees him playing with a virtual reality driving video game and feels bad for him. She surprises him with a new Cadillac that can assist him with driving so now he can drive himself.  Three main takeaways from the ad; Even if you don't have hands you can drive this car, this car drives for you, this car was bought by a single mom for her son ...

About Riley

Hello everybody, my name is Riley Carlson. I am currently a dual enrolled student at OSU and LB, my major is Design and Innovation Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I like to meet with an advisor at least once a term to make sure I am on the right track, my advisor recommended I take this class plus I am interested in learning more about marketing. To be quite honest I have never known "What I want to do when I grow up," I still struggle with this. A few things I have been interested in; Architecture, rebranding for small businesses, or commercial interior design for restaurants. However, my ideas change every month.  I have taken a course before at OSU, we had to sell our own product, unfortunately it didn't go on for very long due to Covid. However, my job was marketing and I really didn't know much about marketing. I was a marketing major but I was so frustrated in the previous class I felt like marketing wasn't for me and changed my major. I would l...
